Since 1955, more than 70 years, the Indiana Council on World Affairs has been among, and helped ignite, world affairs group discussions to share ideas that matter, conversations that thrive and understanding that grows, all the while supporting and protecting democracy.
As fascinating world events unfold, ICWA brings you presentations by leading scholars, diplomats, business leaders, and others. Each year, there are about 1,000 registrations for ICWA events. When a student or lifelong learner participates in one of our activities, that's your support in action.
● Lectures with Q&A, such as Global Speakers and Great Decisions, bring informed, authoritative voices and participants from around Indiana and beyond. These feature a presentation by an expert along with a moderated prepared Q&A and an open participant Q&A session. Some events are community-based with more than 100+ in attendance. Can't see image? ● Youth education, such as Academic WorldQuest brings the world into high school classrooms via this free study program and competition. The top team wins an expense paid trip to Washington, D.C for the national competition, plus a cash award for their high school's global studies programs. ● Community outreach and encouragement for world affairs groups around the state as the Foreign Policy Association's State Coordinator for Great Decisions books and educational resources. ICWAs community engagement initiatives have resulted in multiple, inter-organizational collaborations. Can't see image?
