Travel Awards: The top scoring team of four students and their teacher will win a trip to Washington, D.C. for the national competition held by the World Affairs Councils of America on April 27-28, 2026, with a reception on April 26, 2026.

Cash Awards: The winning team's high school will receive a cash award for their school's global studies. The 2nd and 3rd place teams will also win cash awards for their school.

Scholarships: This year, for the first time ever, the four members of the winning team will be eligible for scholarships to Indiana University Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies.  DETAILS: Each member of the winning team will receive a guaranteed Hamilton Lugar School scholarship upon admission to IU Bloomington and the Hamilton Lugar School, provided they apply by February 1 of their senior year and are admitted by March 15 of their senior year.

For preparing to score well at the competition, the carefully researched Official Study Guide is on-line for easy access and at no charge. It is an informative resource for those who participate in Academic WorldQuest as well as others interested in international relations.

For the competition, teams of four students answer multiple choice questions on world history, geography, global economics, and current events. There are ten topics with 7-10 questions per topic. As the questions are read and displayed on over-sized monitors, answers are recorded for each team. The top scoring team is named the winner.
