This year we have two options for your participation in the Great Decisions program.

1. As in past years, you will be able to register for each individual session as a member for $5.00 or as a non-member for $10.00.

2. Also, this year we are offering an opportunity to register for the entire 8-week series for one fee. Members will be able to register for $30 for all 8 programs and non-members can register for $70 for all 8 programs. When you choose this option, you need only to sign up once and will be automatically registered for each program and receive a registration confirmation.
You may register now for the entire 8-week series or wait until each individual session is announced.

1. Tuesday, February 4 - Climate Change and Security with Prof. Daniel Cole
This program focuses on Security Issues related to International Cooperation on Climate Change. Security concerns linked to climate change include impacts on food, water and energy supplies; increased competition over natural resources; loss of livelihoods; climate-related disasters; and forced migration and displacement.

2. Wednesday, February 12 - Taiwan with Dr. Paul Heer
As a leading democracy and a technological powerhouse, Taiwan is a key U.S. partner in the Indo-Pacific. Though the United States does not have diplomatic relations with Taiwan, we have a robust unofficial relationship. This program will explore the intricacies of this relationship.

3. Tuesday, February 18 - Gaza with Professor Pierre Atlas
The war in Gaza has brought the region to a crossroads. What are the possible outcomes of the war, and how might the United States use its influence to shape a long-term settlement that leaves both Israel and the Palestinians in a better position? How might Arab states in the wider region be brought into a settlement? What are America’s interests in the Middle East and how can it advance them?

5. Wednesday, March 5 - AI and National Security with Professor Caleb Lucas
The AI revolution is the leading edge of a larger high-tech revolution which promises to transform the world. Experts argue that international cooperation is needed to expand the opportunities these new technologies hold while protecting societies from their dangers. What are the key policy debates in this area, and what are the opportunities and limits on global AI rules of the road? How will the AI revolution impact American national security? What are its policy options to secure the benefits of AI and guard against its dangers?

6. Tuesday, March 11 - American Foreign Policy at a Crossroads with Ambassador Kenneth Quinn
This chapter will explore the contours of the U.S. foreign policy debate as it plays out in a world of multiple and escalating crises and domestic polarization. Post WWII, much of America’s attention was focused on Europe as Russia was buildings its own power in competition against the US. Over time, global attention moved then to the Middle East with a recent return to Europe via Ukraine. But perhaps more urgent need is the reality that the
world’s economic and geopolitical center of gravity is shifting inexorably toward the East.

7. Tuesday, March 18 - NATO and Liberal Democracy with Prof. Eliot Cohen
What is meant by ‘western liberal democracy’? What has been its impact since WWII? Why is it under threat today? This strain of illiberal nationalism is the common thread running through the three most potent external threats to liberal democracy: the rise of national populism and political tribalism around the world; Russia's reversion to despotism at home and adventurism abroad; and the emergence of the Chinese model as a plausible alternative to market democracy.

8. Week Eight - Week of February 24th - US Changing Leadership and the World Economy with Professor Michael J. Hicks
Micheal J. Hicks is the director of the Center for Business and Economic Research and the Frances Ball distinguished professor of economics in the Miller College of Business at Ball State University. Professor Hicks will provide some reporting and insights into the impact of the new administration on the U.S. and global economic performance.
