Academic World Quest 2021-2022 Study Guide (filesusr.com)

The Indiana Council on World Affairs organizes the Academic WorldQuest global studies competition, with co-sponsors of the Indiana Council for the Social Studies and the City of Indianapolis Teacher and Student Outreach Committee.

With long-term sponsor University of Indianapolis, Dr. Douglas Woodwell, International Relations Professor, serves as Quiz-Master.

New for 2021, and continuing for 2022, is sponsor Indiana University Hamilton Lugar School’s National Resource Centers.

Any Indiana teacher in any Indiana high school (public, charter, private, home school* (or combination of two schools*) can participate by registering their school for the competition. There is no need to register students at this time. *Upon confirmation per ICWA & WACA.

To prepare for the quiz-style competition, a teacher recruits as many students as are interested and provides guidance and independent access to the Study Guide, now posted on the ICWA web site.

Students organize into teams of four to test knowledge of global politics, geography, international economics, history, and world cultures.

Although Academic WorldQuest has traditionally been an in-person event, due to continuing pandemic concerns, the competition was held virtually in 2021 and will again be held virtually using Zoom Rooms and Quizziz gaming software that is accessible through PC, tablet, or smartphone.  Each registered teacher will be sent a link to access the event via Zoom.  Because teams will be able to participate by meeting at a local high school or community center, there is no need to travel.  The capability to project the quiz questions onto a larger screen is recommended.

This quick-paced event consists of questions on 10 categories for a total perfect score of 100%.

Questions for the competition are derived from the FREE on-line "Academic WorldQuest 2021-2022 Study Guide" posted on the Indiana Council on World Affairs web site.  Teachers and students may access the study guide via the following link:
